Carbon zero plan

We at Demand Recruitment Services Ltd. Are committing to do our bit to cut carbon emissions and protect the planet. We knew that UK government has partnered with business owners and respected climate groups to help us join them today.

Our commitment would make a real difference – to the planet, to our customers and to our running costs! Even the smallest businesses produce carbon emissions – it could be through building, vehicles or suppliers. We’re taking the first step on our journey, by committing to cutting those carbon emissions in half by 2030 and to reach ‘net zero’ by 2050. Net zero means that we are putting no more carbon into the atmosphere than we are taking out of it.

We are in touch with tools to help us understand our emissions, how to tackle them, and how to share what we’re doing with our customers and community. Below are some benefits of our fighting Climate Change scheme to promote clean energy and curb climate change.

·    Helping avoids the runaway costs of climate change:

Every region in the United Kingdom is already experiencing the costly effects of climate change. Action to sharply reduce our global warming emissions can greatly curtail the costs of climate change, especially over the longer term.

·   Creating jobs:

Renewable energy has been one of the bright spots of the U.K economy during these hard times.

·  Improving public health:

Reducing our emissions through a shift to cleaner forms of energy will not only help slow global warming but will also improve air quality, reducing the cases of asthma and other respiratory illnesses that result from high levels of ozone and airborne particulates.

·  Enhancing national and global security.

Addressing global warming would also reduce the nation’s reliance on oil, including the portion that comes from unstable regimes around the world.

·  Delivering benefits to low-income households

Using energy more efficiently and reducing global warming emissions would help all families—especially low-income families—lower their energy bills.

· Preserving vital ecosystems and species

Addressing global warming could help lessen the harm to ecosystems that now provide us with multiple benefits.

· Conserving water resources and clean water

Many climate-friendly renewable sources (excluding conventional biofuels) require far less water, leaving more for other purposes and making them better suited to a climate constrained world.

Here are Different ways our business will inspire employees to make a meaningful difference

·        Sustainable commuting

As Demand Recruitment Services Ltd. Is serious about helping our employees reduce their carbon footprint, the best place to start is with their daily commute. There are a number of ways to do this:

Electric cars – EVs emit around a third of the CO2 of petrol vehicles, depending on the amount of fossil fuels used to generate the electricity.

Carpooling – car sharing initiatives have a two-fold benefit because they reduce emissions and traffic congestion simultaneously, an urgent priority in heavily congested cities such as London.

Public transport – another greener alternative to single occupancy car journeys is public transport. We will play an active role in prompting staff to take the train or bus. For example, we have deliberately not built parking spaces at our office so that employees are encouraged to take a greener route to the office.

Cycling – the most sustainable (and healthiest) way to get to work. We can do our bit by providing secure bike storage, offering tax-deductible bike-purchasing schemes, and installing charge points for e-bikes.

·        Working from home

The ultimate way to reduce emissions generated by our daily commute is, of course, not to set off in the first place. A simple but highly effective way for Demand Recruitment Services Ltd. To help the environment is to allow the flexible working trend to continue.

·        Reduce wastage in the workplace

Demand Recruitment Services Ltd. Buildings are properly insulated to the highest standards, and built from sustainable materials that are low carbon, or recycled and recyclable. Well-designed new buildings will be zero-carbon, requiring no heating or cooling, dramatically reducing emissions and operating costs. Further energy and emissions reductions came from installing motion-sensitive light switches to posting notices encouraging staff to take the stairs instead of the elevator, small things can make a tangible difference.

 Modern Slavery Policy Statement

This policy sets out the organisation’s stance on modern slavery and explains how employees can identify any instances of this and where they can go for help. This statement is made pursuant to s.54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps that Demand recruitment services ltd has taken and is continuing to take to ensure that modern slavery or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.

Modern slavery encompasses slavery, servitude, human trafficking and forced labour. Demand recruitment services ltd has a zero-tolerance approach to any form of modern slavery. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity and transparency in all business dealings and to putting effective systems and controls in place to safeguard against any form of modern slavery taking place within the business or our supply chain.

1.   Our Suppliers

Demand recruitment services ltd operates a supplier policy and maintains a preferred supplier list. We conduct due diligence on all suppliers before allowing them to become a preferred supplier. This due diligence includes an online search to ensure that particular organization has never been convicted of offenses relating to modern slavery [and on site audits which include a review of working conditions]. Our anti-slavery policy forms part of our contract with all suppliers and they are required to confirm that no part of their business operations contradicts this policy.

In addition to the above, as part of our contract with suppliers, we require that they confirm to us that:

  • They have taken steps to eradicate modern slavery within their business
  • They hold their own suppliers to account over modern slavery
  • (For UK based suppliers) They pay their employees at least the national minimum wage / national living wage (as appropriate)
  • (For international suppliers) They pay their employees any prevailing minimum wage applicable within their country of operations
  • We may terminate the contract at any time should any instances of modern slavery come to light]

2.   Training

We regularly conduct training for our procurement/buying teams so that they understand the signs of modern slavery and what to do if they suspect that it is taking place within our supply chain.

3.   Our Performance Indicators

We will know the effectiveness of the steps that we are taking to ensure that slavery and/or human trafficking is not taking place within our business or supply chain.
